The cracking sound of gunfire proceeded a fire at a Koreatown apartment building Friday morning, according to KNX 1070 Newsradio. Despite the report, Friday afternoon the Los Angeles Fire Department stated the blaze was “determined to be accidental and 'most probably electrical' in nature.”
The blaze at 614 S. St. Andrews Place was reported at 8:37 a.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the LAFD. Flames attacked a “decorative mansard” atop the six-story brick building, believed to be about 83-years-old, he said. No injuries were reported.

It took 152 firefighters 62 minutes to put out the fire, Humphrey stated. The cause of the blaze was under investigation, but a resident told the radio station that someone had previously tried to start a fire at the building and that management had circulated a flier asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

The man said he heard gunfire before flames erupted on the roof.
A number of people were reported to be displaced by the fire and subsequent water damage.
