Hit-and-Run Crash on Bernal Avenue Left San Jose Woman Arrested

PLEASANTON, CA (January 11, 2021) – Police arrested Sophia Ornelas in connection with a hit-and-run on Bernal Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to the incident around 2:30 p.m., after receiving a stolen truck alert, just east of Palo Alto.

Eventually, police located the suspected stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Bernal Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop, however, the driver refused to pull over and sped into the freeway northbound.

Authorities canceled the pursuit since the suspect started to drive recklessly on the right shoulder.

Ultimately, officers located the stolen truck involved in a collision and arrested the woman hiding in the bushes at a nearby Park & Ride.

Pleasanton Officials later booked 30-year-old Sophia Ornelas into Santa Rita Jail for hit-and-run.
