Get ready to stomp those footsies — and shake that ba dunk-a-dunk! Funky Sole, the groovin’ night of soul-funk freakiness that tore up Star Shoes for six years (and closed down the sucker in kick-ass fashion), is steppin’ into a new space that promises even more DJ-driven delirium with melds you pretty much can’t hear anywhere else: deep funk, soulful disco, old-school (“pre-1983”) hip-hop, Afro-Latin, bossa-jazz, Bollywood club bangers and world psychedelia. Decksmen/club creators Miles (Breakestra) and Egon (Stones Throw Records) always step up the party with surprise wax wonders, so expect this one to go off. The new digs, Jimmy’s Lounge (formerly El Centro), are much bigger inside and out — the patio is particularly rockin’. Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Shadow, DJ Muro, Chairman Mao and Cut Chemist (the “unofficial third partner”) have all been known to pop in for sets unannounced, and we’ll bet our flyest platforms that at least one will be in the house to help kick things off. Jimmy’s Lounge, 6202 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd.; Sat., July 28, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21. For more info, see www.myspace.com/funkysole.
