The formal attire. The drunken, racist relatives. The high hopes that you'll amount to something. Who among us hasn't been subjected to the horror of a rite-of-passage ritual? (Comedian Nick Kroll even wrote an entire book about it, 2005's Bar Mitzvah Disco ). If you have bitter memories (or are bitter regardless), the Jewish Federation and Jdate.com invite both Jews and Gentiles to reenter adulthood at their '80s-themed Third Annual Bar Mitzvah Disco , where you can skip reading the Torah and head straight for the open bar. The new wave tunes will rock, and the Tab will flow. Games, prizes and an '80s-themed costume contest are also included. Proceeds benefit the Jewish Federation.
