Legendary L.A. chef Nancy Silverton joins partner Joe Bastianich in taking on some saucy students in next week’s episode of MasterChef: Legends, Wednesday at 8:00-9:00 p.m. on FOX. The newest season of the hit culinary competition show MasterChef is once again giving a selection of talented home cooks from across the country the chance to showcase their skills and signature dishes.

In its 11th season of MasterChef, dubbed MasterChef: Legends, award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, chef Aarón Sánchez and restaurateur Bastianich have invited culinary legends like Emeril Lagasse, Roy Choi, Silverton and Masuharu Morimoto for the most competitive season thus far.

For the first time, only 15 of the best home cooks in America will receive the coveted white apron and impress four legends with all new challenges, including the toughest yet, a head-to-head battle with Ramsay himself. One home cook will ultimately claim the MasterChef title, which comes with the $250,000 grand prize, a complete Viking kitchen and kitchen tools and bakeware products from OXO.

In this exclusive clip from next week’s episode,  judges Silverton and Bastianich demonstrate the technique for making homemade Orecchiette pasta with broccoli rabe and garlic, a form of therapy for the Mozzaplex owner. The cooks – like Alejandro Valdiva, a professional animal trainer from Cuba who never ate pasta until age 16 – must prove they can master the Italian staple and impress with a pasta dish of their own in the pasta challenge episode.
