Oh, oh, oh, it's magic! Environmentalism, that is. According to “green” magician Steve Trash, recycling is as easy as pulling a cruelty-free rabbit out of a hat. Not that he does that onstage, but he does turn a deck of red playing cards green and bunch of torn-up recycling-bin fliers into literal cash in his act Steve Trash: Solo Green Magic. There's a message to his madness, and that's being green, as in environmentally aware. “Reduce, reuse, recycle”: Those are his magic words to make your garbage disappear, which he neatly incorporates into one of his many sleight-of-hand tricks. While he's mostly known as a children's illusionist, Trash entertains the hip kids this weekend at the infamously private Magic Castle, where access is magically granted with a 30-day “Open Sesame” trial membership. The Magic Castle's Hat & Hare Pub, 7001 Franklin Ave., Hlywd.; Fri.-Sat., July 8-9 p.m.; $100 trial membership. (323) 851-3313, magiccastle.com.

Fri., July 8, 8 p.m.; Sat., July 9, 8 p.m., 2011
