Pasadena is continuing its transformation from food desert to burger paradise, with the upcoming opening of Orange County burger spot Slater's 50/50. Add Haven Gastropub and King's Row — plus the Umami Burger that's going into the old Naga Naga Ramen space on Colorado — and Old Town Pasadena is looking like the destination of choice of burger-loving gourmands.

For those not familiar, Slater's (a favorite among OC Weekly staffers) has three locations in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and San Diego. It allows guests to build their own massive burgers — or order one of its specialties, like the famous 50/50 burger, with a patty made from half ground chuck and half ground bacon. As you might have guessed, there is a whole lot of craft beer involved, too.

Slater's will be taking over the Vive space on Raymond Avenue in Old Town, and is set to open in late October or early November. Even more intriguing is that the new location will be located next door to Ryan Sweeney's Union Bar & Grill, set to open around the same time. Let the Pasadena burger wars begin.
