Update: “Skyy Fisher Will Not Be Fired From Compton School Board for Offensive Comments; He'll Have to Be Recalled by Voters.”

Could the Compton Unified School District get any sleazier?

A concerned father named Sergio gave us a call this afternoon and directed our attention to a horrendous interview that CUSD Board Member Skyy Fisher, elected last November, recently gave to a bunch of his former buddies on their podcast, Pigzradio.

They were surprised to hear their man Fisher sounding all official and “acting serious” on KTLA

… while discussing sex-crime allegations against a Compton middle-school teacher. So they gave him a call, for old times' sake.

Against all better judgment, Fisher called them back — and proceeded to do more smack-talking than a sorority girl at a sleepover.

He begins by calling Trayvon Martin a “faggot black dude.” Then, later on in the interview, he gleefully describes how wearing a hoodie to the CUSD board meeting will win him some PR points:

“In solidarity with this Trayvon Martin bitch, I'm trying to get on the news, so I'm wearing a hoodie at the whole board meeting,” he says. “It's the perfect publicity stunt! I'm going to wear a hoodie, and the news is going to come out and I'm going to announce my candidacy for City Council, goddammit.”

(Which, to be fair, is what every other politician across California and the nation did in the wake of Martin's murder — exploited everyone's grief for air time. But at least they had the brains not to admit it on local radio.)

Fisher also takes it upon himself to disprove those sex-crime allegations against the P.E. teacher at Davis Middle School.

He says the alleged victim and her father, Gregorio Sanchez, have been lying that the teacher touched her inappropriately and made sexual comments.

“The daughter is doing bad in the class so she's trying to get back at the teacher,” says Fisher. He's particularly brazen in describing Sanchez' appeal to the board: “Her father comes to board meeting, crying and shit to the board, talking about how his daughter been raped and all kind of bullshit,” says the elected official.

Oh. We almost forgot. Fisher also unleashes a tirade against his boss, Superintendent Karen Frison, calling her a “bitch” for not getting back to him more promptly.

And he wonders why the school police chief “still hasnt given me my fucking law-enforcement badge.”

The most sensible part of the conversation comes last: Fisher admits he woke up drunk that morning, and asks his friends, “Next time you guys have some cocaine or some lines, let me know.”

Which kind of explains everything — except how this guy got elected in the first place, and how he's still in office after this completely absurd cameo on Pigzradio.

“I was very upset,” says Sergio, the dad who showed us the podcast. “It's embarrassing, it's distasteful, it's unprofessional — and [Fisher] should be held to a higher standard.”

From Fisher's glowing profile on the CUSD website:

Skyy was elected to the Compton Unified School Board of Trustees on November 8, 2011. At the age of 28 years old Skyy became the youngest member ever elected to the CUSD Board of Trustees, Youngest African American Elected Official in Los Angeles County and Southern California. A native of Compton; Skyy was born, reared and educated in public schools. HE IS A PRODUCT OF THE COMPTON EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.

As a 3rd generation resident of Compton, Skyy comes from a family rich in education and community service. Skyy has represented students, education professionals and union members and their respective families in neighborhoods stretching from Compton to Washington, D.C. A champion for educational equality and organized labor, Skyy has earned a reputation as a passionate advocate who engages intricate issues on behalf of students, union members and their families.

To top it all off, the board member apparently went off on a OneCompton forum user named Maggie Morris after she criticized him for the radio spot. In what she claims is a private OneCompton chat transcript, a certain “Skyy D. Fisher” says, “hoe, close your legs” and “your life is crap bitch, get off my page.” Among other obscenities.

We've contacted the Compton Unified School District for comment.

The district has been juggling all kinds of scandals lately, from the unaddressed sex-crime allegations to superintendents throwing around the city card to school-board bullies blocking charter schools from taking over failing campuses to, uh, porn star Sasha Grey reading books to children. And at the end, we always asked, who on Earth is in charge here?

Well, now we know.
