Let them eat bear meat. No, this wasn't some bizarre, Dickensian experiment for the denizens of the country's most-populous homeless community. The group Hunt Fish Feed was in town Monday to serve up wild elk, deer, sheep, pig, black bear and antelope, according to the Daily News.

In fact there was 250 pounds of the stuff, including bear tacos. The group claims that more than 1,000 people were fed at the Union Rescue Mission on Skid Row. The initiative, started by the Sportsman Channel, aims to tap “a new food source of game meat and fish donated to sportsmen to help in the fight against hunger.”

One diner, Ralph Johnson, told the Daily News his bear-meat taco plate “tastes…just like tacos.”
