Rachel Bolan: When I was asked to do a write up about my favorite album, it sounded easy.

What is the criteria for a favorite album?
The music? The memories? The band?
I came to the conclusion that I have a lot of favorites for all those reasons.
Even if I narrowed it down to five, I feel like I am cheating on my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th choices. But here goes.
I remember being driven to the Ocean County mall so I could go to Camelot Music to buy the then newest album from KISS. It was Rock and Roll Over.
I, of course, read about it in Circus Magazine and waited so long after the announced released date to get it.
Was it worth it? Damn right it was.
Let’s start with the album cover. It was hypnotic. I would only break from my trance long enough to drop the needle to listen again. The first notes of “I Want You” drew me in only to be blown back when the band kicked in with each cut, leaving a permanent mark. The running order is perfect, the hooks monstrous and the raw sound captured New York City’s finest. This album taught me about sex, bass and Rock and Roll.
I still have my original vinyl as well as 2 other copies.
My apologies to the rest of my top five. I hope we can still be friends.
