Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto's finally announced his long-awaited plans for his first L.A. restaurant today — a robata concept called Skewers that is supposed to open by the start of September. The downside? You're going to have to clear airport security and buy a plane ticket to visit it: The restaurant is located smack dab in the middle of LAX Terminal 5, two stops over from the new Wolfgang Puck Express, located in Terminal 7.

According to Morimoto, the restaurant is going to be “fast casual street food,” offering a selection of yakitori snacks and fried items with a price range from $9 to $15.

As part of the airport's push to “elevate” its dining offerings, high-profile chefs like Morimoto have been tapped to expand the terminal's offering beyond the usual Burger Kings and McDonald's.

Morimoto's Skewers will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and members of the city council on Sept. 13. The restaurant will, hopefully, open soon afterwards.
