Serious Injuries Reported after Skateboard Accident near West Point Loma Boulevard

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 8, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old skateboarder was hospitalized after a collision on Nimitz Boulevard.

The incident happened around 7:45 a.m., at Nimitz Boulevard between West Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, as per report. Dispatchers responded shortly after.

According to police, a 63-year-old man was driving south on Nimitz Boulevard, approaching a green signal at the junction of Nimitz and West Point Loma Boulevard.

Meanwhile, the skateboard rider was traveling north on Nimitz. As he approached the junction and turned west against a red light, he was then struck by the vehicle.

The skateboarder was brought to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, police had no more information on his condition.

The inquiry was handled by traffic investigations. Once available, more information about the collision on Nimitz Boulevard will be provided.
