Highland Hit-and-Run Driver Struck and Killed Skateboarder
HIGHLAND, CA (July 29, 2022) – Early Friday morning, a hit-and-run on East 3rd Street claimed the life of a skateboarder.
The incident happened around 12:48 a.m., just east of Tippecanoe Avenue on July 22nd.
Per reports, a westbound vehicle struck a man riding a skateboard in the westbound lanes of East 3rd Street. The involved driver then fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Upon arrival, emergency crews located the male victim lying in the westbound lanes of the road. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim pending notification of next of kin.
Crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Additionally, Highland Officials are still working to identify further circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run on East 3rd Street.
