How many Angelenos with skateboards does it take to create a world record?

Apparently not many.

Guinness World Records announced today that a skaters' gathering outside Venice High School last summer took the prize for “largest skateboard parade.”

The number of participants?

498.

(You could get that many skaters on a bad day at Venice Skate Park).

Still, they did it. The June 26 gathering was organized by the Venice High School Alummni Association Centennial Celebration Committee.

Skaters gathered in the wide lanes of Venice Boulevard outside the school.

According to Yo! Venice! the previous record was about 250.
