While many chefs like to keep their cooking secrets close to the jacket, Culinary Director Jason Prendergast of Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows farm-to-table FIG Restaurant, is inviting guests to become a part of the kitchen team with an exclusive insider look at how he selects seasonal ingredients during his weekly visits to the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market, with a new Farmers Market Package.

Starting Saturday, April 16, the intimate farm-to-table spring shopping and cooking experience allows up to four guests to accompany Prendergast to the Saturday morning farmer’s market to interact with his favorite vendors and select ingredients of their choice to use at dinner at FIG later that evening, and dine on their selected items prepared by the chef and team.

The package is available for a limited time on one Saturday of each month, from April through September, and includes a picture, champagne toast and dinner.

Bar Louie has launched its newest beverage as part of its year-round giveback program, Cocktails For A Cause. Now through Tuesday, July 5, $1 from each Wild Berry Margarita will be donated to Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE), a nonprofit that helps foodservice families bridge the financial gap during a qualifying crisis. To date, CORE has awarded financial grants to more than 1,500 families across the U.S. The latest libation is made with Don Julio Blanco Tequila, blackberry, strawberry, lime, Truly Wild Berry Hard Seltzer and blueberries, with a Twang Nectarberry Rim and a lime wheel garnish.

Coachella Watch: An all-new cocktail experience is popping up at the Saguaro Palm Springs. Part speakeasy, part lounge, the El Jefe Desert Cantina is located just beyond the Saguaro’s lobby behind a hidden door tucked into a bookcase. Anchored by a collection of agave-based spirits, the menu features about 20 unique cocktails for fans of seasonal and classic mezcal and tequila drinks, in a hip and moody setting with an oversized mural of four floatie-adorned luchadores and ‘80s video games doubling as drink tables.
