Gunfire broke out at a Hollywood club early today, critically injuring a man in his 20s, police said.
It happened about 1 a.m. inside My Studio, 6623 Hollywood Blvd., an LAPD sergeant told the Weekly:
Hollywood 311, which first reported the shooting, said police went after a car possibly involved in the violence but later determined it wasn't connected.
In fact no suspects were in custody, police told us.
The venue was hosting an ongoing party called Secret Sundayz, billed as a hip-hop strip club night, when gunfire erupted. Rapper Lil Scrappy was touted as a headliner for the evening.
SBE, controlled by City Hall-connected nightlife entrepreneur Sam Nazarian, owns the club. It'll be interesting to see if it had the permits to allow for erotic dancing.
Promoters of the night attempted to downplay the violence:
Lol nice try! Fireworks. So we got set up. Fireworks in the club. No shell casings nobody hit. #secretsundayz

The victim, unidentified, was stabilized in a hospital, police said. It was unclear what sparked the attack.
