Driver Arrested, 1 Woman Dead Following Alleged DUI Hit-and-Run Crash near J and K Streets
LOMPOC, CA (May 31, 2022) – On Monday, 50-year-old Shirley Cavazos Juarez died as a result of a hit-and-run crash on J Street.
The incident occurred along J and K Streets near Laurel Avenue around 10:00 p.m., May 23rd.
According to reports, a driver was speeding and driving recklessly in the area when it lost control and struck Juarez who was getting out of her vehicle into her home at the time.
Responding medics rushed Juarez to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead due to the extent of her injuries.
Meanwhile, officers captured the suspect driver who attempted to flee the scene after the collision.
Authorities eventually arrested 27-year-old Miriam Aidee Vela Estrada for felony DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run.
Lompoc Police asks any witnesses to come forward and contact them at their offices.
