Vehicle Crash on Tavern Road Left at Least One Injured

ALPINE, CA (March 1, 2022) – On Monday, a sheriff’s deputy sustained injuries after a DUI accident on Tavern Road.

The incident happened around 7:00 a.m. at the Chevron gas station at 1145 Tavern Road.

Furthermore, according to the officials, they received a report of a possible DUI driver asleep behind the wheel.

Eventually, officials arrived and confronted the 32-year-old driver, recognizing drug paraphernalia in plain view of the vehicle.

Consequently, deputies requested that the man stepped out of the vehicle, but the driver accelerated backwards with the door open and collided with a fire truck.

While the driver was in reverse, the open door collided with a deputy. After suffering a minor abrasion to the nose and shoulder pain, emergency personnel transported the deputy to a nearby hospital.

Authorities eventually took the driver into custody.

Meantime, an active investigation is underway and officials will release new updates once available.

Driving under the influence is one of the most dangerous things you can do as a driver. If you find yourself unable to safely drive, you can always contact a Lyft or Uber instead.
