Hit-and-Run Driver At Large Following Fatal Crash near Avenue 313

VISALIA, CA (November 10, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, authorities are searching for Shay Dejonge following a fatal hit-and-run on Avenue 144.

The deadly collision happened around 1:00 p.m. in the area of Avenue 313 in Visalia.

According to the investigators, a gray sedan, driven by Dejonge, struck a man riding a bicycle as they were traveling along the road. The impact of the collision left the bicyclist with serious injuries. Meanwhile, Dejonge fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

Responding officers discovered the 25-year-old male bicyclist along the roadway suffering from significant injuries. Medics transported him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment but he succumbed to his wounds at the hospital.

Afterward, with the help of witnesses, police managed to identify 31-year-old Shay Dejonge as the suspect in the collision. However, at this time, Dejonge remains at large.
