57-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Scooter Collision near Chamberlain Avenue

EL CAJON, CA (January 23, 2023) – Wednesday morning, Shawn Hill was killed in a motorized scooter accident on El Cajon Boulevard.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:41 a.m., at the 500 block of El Cajon Boulevard near Chamberlain Avenue on January 4th.

Investigators say the driver of a 2000 Dodge Ram struck a motorized scooter rider for reasons unknown. Upon impact, the scooter rider was trapped underneath the truck.

Good Samaritans rendered aid to the man by using floor jacks to lift the pickup-truck off the man.

Responding paramedics arrived shortly after and transported the patient to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officers later identified the deceased victim as 57-year-old Hill.

Investigators later determined that a right-of-way violation caused the fatal incident. El Cajon officials will provide more information once available.
