17-Year-Old Victim Dies in Fatal Car Crash near Whitewood Road

MURRIETA, CA (April 21, 2022) – Late Sunday evening, Sharmaine Legaspi was killed in a car crash on Murrieta Hot Springs Road.

According to Murrieta Police, the crash occurred about 10:50 p.m. on April 17th, just east of Whitewood Road.

As per reports, police determined that 17-year-old Legaspi was driving a compact sedan westbound in the number three lane of the road. For reasons unknown, she lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.

The vehicle then traveled onto the sidewalk and collided with a light pole. Medical personnel found the teen trapped in the wreckage with significant injuries.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 17-year-old Legaspi dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to fully recover.

Crews temporarily closed a portion of the roadway to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time.
