Two Pronounced Dead after Auto Collision near Los Cedros Avenue

FONTANA, CA (April 18, 2022) – Early Thursday morning, Shannon Flores and Rodrigo Resendez were killed in a car crash on Citrus Avenue.

According to Fontana Police, the collision occurred around 1:47 a.m., on April 7th near Los Cedros Avenue.

Police said the the two victims were both seated on the right side of an older Honda that was making a left turn from northbound Citrus onto Los Cedros. There, the Honda turned left in front of a Chevrolet truck that was southbound on Citrus Avenue.

The Chevrolet then struck the passenger side of the Honda, pushing the Honda into a brick wall on the southwest corner. As a result of the impact, Flores, a 51-year-old San Bernardino resident, died at the scene.

Meanwhile, Resendez, a 53-year-old Fontana resident, was later pronounced dead at Kaiser Hospital.

Crews later detained the Honda driver in West Valley Detention Center on vehicular manslaughter charges. At this time, an active investigation is currently underway.
