Known for its eclectic populace and visitors, Venice proved an apt home for the equally diverse lineup of dance genres presented during the first four MixMatch Dance Festivals. For its fifth year, the festival moves north to a larger venue near Santa Monica's equally entertaining Promenade. This year's MixMatch Dance Festival offers six shows over two weekends with at least 10 different performers each night. The style range includes contemporary, modern, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, belly, world and even pole dance from local companies and some out-of-town troupes from San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Nevada, Oregon and New York. Kudos go to choreographer Amanda Hart and her Hart Pulse for once again assembling so many different kinds of dance in one place.
