9-Year-Old Child Dead after Head-On Collision near Thomas Road

PHOENIX, AZ (January 20, 2023) – Tuesday morning, 9-year-old Shaila Zamora was killed in a head-on collision on 7th Street.

The incident happened on December 6th, at around 9:00 a.m. near the intersection of 7th Street and Thomas Road.

Investigations show that a vehicle heading eastbound when it attempted to avoid a collision and swerved. As a result, the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle traveling westbound.

According to reports, the eastbound vehicle was occupied by a woman and a child. The westbound vehicle was occupied by a man and two children.

Following the collision, one child from the westbound vehicle, and all the occupants of the eastbound vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officials later announced that 9-year-old Shaila Zamora, who was a passenger in the eastbound vehicle, perished in the collision.

In the wake of this tragedy, friends and family of Shaila Zamora have set up a GoFundMe page to support the costs of her funeral.
