Ring ring. Who is it? It's your libido calling. It wants a new toy. And not an iPhone 4, either.

A British study making the rounds this week claims that sex-toy sales will rival smartphone purchases in the next 10 years. Of course, your pocket rocket will never hold all your contacts or let you know when your bff just texted you. Then again, can your smartphone really take you to ecstasy?

The British newspaper Daily Mail blames the, er, explosion in, um, marital aids on Hollywood stars and their new sexual liberation when it comes to toys and porn.

L.A./LBC homegirl Cameron Diaz is quoted as telling Jimmy Kimmel Live! that …

… I love porn! You know what I love about hotels? How discreet they are.

Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria and Halle Berry were also cited as sex-toy enthusiasts.

The study's authors note that major Hollywood stars admitting to one-handed self-love would not have been imaginable 30 years ago.

(And, it's Masturbation Month — so here's our sister site's NSFW guide).

We think sex toy home shopping (spotted on DirecTV) and ads for Trojan vibrators are pretty futuristic too.

The researchers behind the “Women, Sex and Shopping” survey of 700 women stated:

We think that by 2020-2025 sex toy purchasing will run at over 400 million units per annum. In context, that's about the same as smartphone units shipped per year.

Yes. Per annum. That's a lot of double-A batteries, for sure.

L.A. seems to be the epicenter of the sex-toy business (alongside porn), even if most of the stuff is made in China. (Not that we'd know). Wonder if the L.A. County Economic Development Corporation has studied the, eh, impact. Anyway, invest now:

The researchers at the Hewson Group believe that the sex-toy market from its current $9 billion a year to $65 billion in 2020.

These things are creating quite a buzz.
