Crash on North Fig Street Left Several People Hurt
ESCONDIDO, CA (November 22, 2021) – Several people left injured after a crash on North Fig Street and East Valley Parkway intersection.
According to Oceanside and Escondido Police, the driver stole an SUV in Oceanside just before 10 p.m.
Furthermore, the victim was at a parking garage trying to help jump another driver’s car when two suspects approached them.
Eventually, they took the SUV at knifepoint.
Afterwards, just after 10 p.m., the SUV collided with a pickup truck.
Moreover, the driver of the truck was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries. Medics took him to Palomar Medical Center afterwards.
Additionally, police said six people were inside the SUV when it crashed into the restaurant. The victims included two adult males, two adult females, and two young children ages three and five. The two adult feta males and two children sustained minor injuries.
Authorities arrested two males who fled the scene, a short distance away. Police identified them as 20-year-old Hans Velasquez of Oceanside, and 19-year-old Anthony Quezada of Escondido.
Police arrested Velasquez for carjacking, felony driving under the influence of alcohol, felony hit-and-run, and felony child endangerment. Meanwhile, police charged Quezada for carjacking.
