See Local Natives at the YouTube: Silver Lake indie rockers Local Natives play the YouTube Theater on Tuesday, with Jordana opening.

The band recently released their first new music in two years — the double A-side single “Desert Snow” and “Hourglass.” The former is about a trip to Joshua Tree.

After the heartbreak and insanity of the past few years, when we finally got together to make music again, these songs reconnected and reignited us,” said Local Natives in a statement.

Meanwhile, of “Hourglass” they said, “It explores the difficulty when feeling divided and isolated from some of the people we love most while knowing the time we have with them is finite, and contains some of our favorite LN lyrics:  ‘What I know now I didn’t then / I know you wish I could forget / We’re drawing lines in the sand / inside an hourglass’.”

This music got us through really difficult times and reminded us how much joy we get out of playing music together,” they added. “We couldn’t be more excited to share these songs and play them live on our first tour in 3 years.”

It’ll be great to hear the new stuff live.

See Local Natives at the YouTube: The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9 at the YouTube Theater.
