Josue Luna, the second suspect involved in the hit and run accident that claimed the life of a USC student and seriously injured another, was arrested at the U.S.-Mexican border near San Diego around 2 a.m. Saturday. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Luna, 32, attempted to cross into the United States on foot. Luna produced identification bearing his true name, triggering a computer alert that prompted his detention by border agents.

LAPD representatives later brought Luna back to Los Angeles, where he was booked as an accessory to the crime. His wife, Claudia Cabrera, 30, is accused of being behind the wheel of the car that ran down Adrianna Bachan and Marcus Garfinkle early in the morning of March 29. Eye witnesses reported that Garfinkle remained on the car's windshield after the impact while Cabrera drove the car about 300 feet before a passenger, allegedly Luna, got out of the car and pushed Garfinkle off. The couple, with a seven-month infant in the car, then drove off. Bachan, 18, died while Garfinkle, 19, survived.

Luna was booked at the LAPD's  77 Street Division headquarters and released at 12:45 p.m. this afternoon after posting $50,000 bail. When asked if Luna wasn't considered a flight risk, a department source replied that Luna was only charged with being an accessory and that $50,000 was the corresponding bail for that charge. Cabrera remains in custody at the Van Nuys women's jail in lieu of $1 million bond. The LAPD source said the department does not release booking photos and none of Luna would be issued.
