Something to consider this holiday shopping season as Black Friday looms tomorrow is sea creatures. We had a rash of them recently in interior design. I'm thinking of the stuff from Roost, particularly their sea urchin tealight lanterns. When I was at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art last weekend for the Machine Gallery takeover event (which you can read about here in our A Considerable Town section), I saw these little guys in the gift shop: Sea creature figurines made of actual parts of sea creatures. They'd make a clever and cool present. I didn't see them on LACMA's website, so you'll have to drive out there. But hey, make an afternoon out of it. If you have a Sunday free, have brunch at nearby Marie Callendar's (if you get the buffet brunch, there's unlimited shrimp cocktail) with the after church crowd or wherever, then head out to the museum to walk off the biscuits and gravy.
