66-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Collision near Santa Monica Boulevard

WESTWOOD, CA (April 18, 2022) – Monday evening, Scott Laughlin lost his life in a pedestrian crash on 405 Freeway, police said.

The accident happened at about 10:15 p.m., on the 405 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard.

According to reports, the driver of a white Toyota sedan reportedly struck a man who was last seen running on the freeway’s shoulder.

Responding officers arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police later identified the deceased victim as 66-year-old Laughlin, from Long Beach.

Meanwhile, authorities are still looking for the suspect driver and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact their local offices.

Furthermore, the crash caused multiple road closures for several hours. In addition, police issued a SigAlert, before the road was later reopened.

At this time, Westwood police continue investigating the fatal accident and will release updates once available.
