Scott ‘Kap’ Kapun is the founder of Arsenal NFT(ANFT), a cryptocurrency DeFi/NFT ecosystem tied to the USDC.e stablecoin, which, in turn, bases its value on the US dollar. He’s always considered himself equal parts doer and dreamer, and the innovative tech lead was among the earliest crypto traders.
In the years leading up to launching Arsenal, he often worked on his own, and it was sometimes a struggle to stay accountable each day. But, in an emerging field like crypto and NFTs, there are as many failures and triumphs, and he taught himself to get through the low days with aplomb.
Here are his best tips and insider secrets to staying motivated in the ever-expanding and highly competitive tech market.
Breakfast and Brainstorming
To Kapun, productivity should start as soon as you roll out of bed in the morning. To the tech lead, a tasty and healthy breakfast is essential to a productive day and keeping brain fog at bay.
He begins every day with a blend of strawberries, blackberries, kale, raw meal, and unsweetened cocoa powder. This combination provides the protein, energy, and nutrients to help him make it until lunchtime.
While eating, he gets out his notebook and pen and physically writes down all the tasks he needs to accomplish for the day. “This helps me to keep physical tabs on what’s going on and how much progress I’m making,” he explained of his old-school method.
He keeps this notebook nearby since it’s also the home to all his off-the-cuff brainstorming for current and future projects. “If I feel an idea has merit and needs to be expanded upon, it is immediately jotted down on paper. Then, after some rough sketching, I diagram. From there, I visually map out workflows, logic, and all aspects of the idea. This gives me clarity on the scope of work required to bring it to life,” he said.
Be a People Person
One of the things that has always kept him on a forward-moving track was thinking of the people he could help with his ecosystem. As a result, Arsenal NFT is based on parity, community, and new technology that benefits every participant. It accomplishes that through a unique profit-sharing model in which every Arsenal community member is paid out in the platform’s native token using its proprietary DeFi app.
As someone ripped off by crypto scams in the past — Kapun’s worst loss to a scammer was $80,000 — he was dedicated to creating a tool that would allow honest people to make passive income using crypto and NFTs.
“I wanted to build a project for the community that they could trust and utilize and not worry about losing their hard-earned money. As a victim of ‘rug pulls’ myself, this project and its credibility are of the utmost importance to me,” Kapun said.
Additionally, he says that his best ideas come from conversations he has with people, calling himself a natural ‘people person.’ He’s likely to start conversations with strangers everywhere he goes and what they tell him often leads to jotting down ideas in his trusty notebook. His friendly, outgoing ways have also brought many crypto newbies to the Arsenal ecosystem to try out the products he discussed with them.
Stay Determined and Focused
Kapun focuses on one task at a time to be a more productive entrepreneur. When something catches his eye during work hours, even if it’s just a minute-long YouTube video, he looks at it and thinks, ‘Is that trivial or somehow relevant to my business?’ If it’s trivial, he’s taught himself to close the tab and move on to something that will get him closer to his goals.
However, that doesn’t mean he’s only focused on bottom lines and making money. Instead, he continually builds time into his day to get inspired by learning, with Google alerts that let him know when one of his favorite tech minds — or competitors — is mentioned in the news. “Read, learn, think, repeat, that’s what I say. Knowledge is power, so absorb as much as you can while you can. You never know what thoughts and ideas might lead to an even greater thought or idea,” he explained.
The selfless founder is creating some of the tech world’s most fascinating products, all based on ideas of community and honesty; it’s just the kind of cutting-edge thinking that we can get behind.
