Man Dies in Car Accident in Friant Kern Canal

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 14, 2022) – A car crash on Westside Parkway left 64-year-old Scott James Ray dead inside his vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Ray’s vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the Friant Kern Canal, near the 7800 block on Westside Parkway. Authorities later found the vehicle at around 9:17 a.m. on Thursday. When police discovered the scene, Ray had already been dead for some time.

Currently, the exact time and cause of the accident remain unknown. However, Bakersfield Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the car crash.
