Motorized Scooter Rider Pronounced Dead after Collision on Lucretia Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (April 1, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, a hit-and-run crash on Taji Drive left a scooter rider dead, police said.

According to the police, the incident happened just before 2:00 a.m., in the area of Lucretia Avenue and Taji Drive.

Investigators said a northbound gray 2017 Honda sedan collided with a motorized scooter going the same direction on Lucretia Avenue.

After the impact, the Honda driver and the driver of a mid-sized white SUV who hit the downed rider, both fled the scene.

Paramedics arrived and transported the severely injured victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the scooter rider dead shortly after arriving to the hospital.

At this time, authorities are yet to release the names of the people involved. San Jose Officials are asking anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact Detective Malvido at (408) 277-4654.
