The National Magazine Awards finalists were announced yesterday, and aside from the usual suspects (The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Esquire), never-before-nominated Cooking Light was a finalist in the Leisure Interests category — alongside Golf Digest, Runner's World and Los Angeles. Speaking of Los Angeles, it couldn't touch The New Yorker's nine nominations (no one could), but it did earn two others, in Special Interest Magazines and Feature Writing.

Saveur was nominated, once again, in Food, Travel and Design Magazines, where it's up against Conde Nast Traveler, Garden & Gun (best magazine title ever!), House Beautiful and Martha Stewart Living.

Only the finalists in the 21 print magazine categories were announced yesterday; the winners will be honored May 9th. Winners in the 12 digital media categories were announced last month (where Epicurious won in Service & Lifestyle while Chow was a finalist in Video.) Full list of nominees after the jump.
