Pieter Schoolwerth, proprietor of Wierd Records and promoter of the Wednesday night New York City club of the same name, has some allies at L.A.’s Chinatown-based monthly party M/R/X-Wolfpak. Both follow a similar path, championing the minimal synth sounds that are developing in pockets of young artists living across the globe. And so it only makes sense that M/R/X-Wolfpak, who previously promoted live performances from Wierd artists Xeno & Oaklander and Martial Canterel, would host the listening party for the label’s most ambitious project yet. The Wierd Compilation Volume II: Analogue Electronic Music 2008 is a four-piece vinyl compilation (a digital version is also available on iTunes) featuring 39 tracks from 30 bands performing on analog equipment and including a 32-page book filled with photos and band information.

The M/R/X-Wolfpak DJs will be playing the entire compilation tomorrow night (Saturday, August 2) beginning at 9 p.m. Also on schedule for the evening are live sets from Magick Daggers and VV Morgue.

M/R/X-Wolfpak is at Roberto’s Sports Bar, 686 N. Spring Street, Second Floor.
