26-Year-Old Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Collision near 10th Street

CORONADO, CA (August 3, 2022) – Early Friday morning, Sarai Valentina Olvera was killed and Erwin Mejia Ramos was arrested after a DUI crash.

The accident happened around 12:30 a.m., in 1100 block of Orange Avenue on July 29th.

Officers were dispatched to a reported crash involving a speeding vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Ramos.

According to reports, Ramos was traveling at speeds around 60 to 80 mph in a 25 mph zone before slamming into a lamppost. Shortly after, medics arrived and pronounced 26-year-old Olvera dead at the scene.

Furthermore, a 20-year-old passenger also suffered injuries in the crash. Although, authorities have not yet identified the injured passenger.

Following preliminary duties, Ramos were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated including gross vehicular manslaughter.
