63-Year-Old Killed in Speeding Car Crash near 99th Avenue

TOLLESON, AZ (August 1, 2022) – Late Tuesday afternoon, Sara Vasquez was killed in a speeding accident on Interstate 10.

The incident occurred just before 4:00 p.m., near 99th Avenue on July 26th.

According to reports, a man was traveling at a high rate of speed on I-10 when an SUV turned left onto the on-ramp. As a result, the high speed vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck the SUV.

Upon impact, a woman was ejected from the SUV onto the road. Medical personnel pronounced the female victim, 63-year-old Vasquez, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics took two children to a nearby hospital for further treatment. In addition, crews transported two other adults to a hospital with serious injuries.

Following preliminary investigations, police said that impairment does not seem to be the factor of the crash. Further investigations are underway.
