A man on a bicycle shot someone in broad daylight across the street from an elementary school at Santa Monica Boulevard and Normandie Avenue in East Hollywood today, police tell the Weekly.

The attack was reported at 2:24 p.m., said LAPD Officer Sarah Faden. The condition, gender and age of the victim were unknown. Officer at-scene were requesting that city Department of Transportation officers shut down westbound traffic on Santa Monica Boulevard, she said.

… the number of officers at the intersection would indicate there is a homicide-style crime scene. The nearby campus is Ramona Elementary school. Faden told us the shooting happened across the street, on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Another officer told the Weekly he's not sure if the school was on lock-down or if it was even in session.
