Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested after Endangering Multiple Cyclists in Port Hueneme
PORT HUENEME, CA (April 22, 2021) – Authorities charged 28-year-old Samuel Rocha for fleeing the scene after crashing into multiple bicyclists.
Police received multiple reports of a hit-and-run near the intersection of North Ventura Road and East Pleasant Valley Road around 9:27 P.M.
Witnesses stated that seven bicyclists were approaching Pleasant Valley Road when a vehicle struck three of the cyclists. Emergency responders identified the victims to be all male teenagers.
“The kids were teenagers, somewhere between 14, 15 to 17 years old,” said Scott Matalon of the Public Information Officer at the Hueneme Police Department.
Shortly after, the paramedics transported all three victims to an area hospital. One of the cyclists succumbed to his injuries while the two other victims sustained multiple injuries.
Meanwhile, Samuel Rocha fled the scene and left his vehicle in the 500 block of East Clara Street in the City of Port Hueneme. However, he returned to the scene and turned himself in to the police. Authorities booked him to jail for murder charges.
