71-Year-Old Man Killed in Rollover Collision near Corral Canyon Road

CHULA VISTA, CA (January 18, 2023) – Monday morning, Samuel Montes was killed in a rollover crash on Port Renwick.

The incident happened at around 6:43 a.m., at the 1800 block of Port Renwick near Corral Canyon Road.

According to reports, Montes was driving Buick Envision along Port Renwick. There, the Envision hit a curb at the wrong angle causing it to overturn. The Envision then hit two unoccupied vehicles before coming to a stop.

Responding paramedics arrived and discovered Montes unconscious inside the vehicle and transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving attempts, 71-year-old Samuel Montes later succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, Chula Vista Officials are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. No other injuries were reported from the incident.
