71-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run near Walnut Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (November 16, 2022) – Friday morning, Samuel Juarez Rivera was killed in a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Anaheim Street.

The collision happened around 6:20 a.m., near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Walnut Avenue. 

Per reports, the driver of a westbound white sedan struck a bicyclist that was heading north through the intersection. Upon impact, the driver did not render aid to the victim and fled the scene.

First responders transported the male bicyclist to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. There, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on November 13th.

Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 71-year-old Rivera, of Long Beach.

Furthermore, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
