Samuel James, 28, was fatally shot earlier today around 1:20 a.m. on the 4700 block of Vermont Avenue. (See map after the jump)

James was shot near a pay phone by an unknown gunman on foot, according to Officer April Harding of LAPD Media Relations. He died at the scene.
