67-Year-Old Male Cyclist Fatally Struck on Filburn Avenue

WASCO, CA (August 31, 2022) – Sunday evening, a bicycle accident on Poplar Avenue claimed the life of Salvador Covarrubias.

The incident happened around 8:19 p.m., near the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Filburn Avenue. For reasons under investigation, the driver of a truck struck the cyclist as they were riding in the area.

Emergency crews arrived to scene shortly after and rendered aid to the severely injured bicyclist. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 67-year-old Covarrubias, of Wasco dead at the scene.

Crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
