Elderly Man Dead after San Luis Obispo Bicycle Accident

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (June 29, 2021) – On Friday, a bicycle accident involving a truck claimed the life of Salvador Cortez.

The police and fire personnel responded to the incident around 7:25 a.m., at Suburban Road and South Higuera Street.

Police stated that a semi-truck turning onto Suburban Road hit the bicyclist traveling north on Higuera Street. Eventually, the responders arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the involved semi-truck remained and cooperated with the police throughout the investigation.

Later on, the coroner’s office identified the deceased victim as 61-year-old Salvador Cortez, of San Luis Obispo.

The San Luis Obispo officials ruled out alcohol and/or drugs as a possible contributing factor at the crash. At this time, no further information has been released.
