Two Men Fatally Struck in Bakersfield Crash near Q Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 3, 2021) – Saturday evening, April 24, Salvador Alvarez, 49, and Wayne Eugene Stedman, 72, died in a car crash.

The crash happened at 6:12 p.m., near Q Street, according to Sgt. Chance Koerner. Dispatchers arrived on Golden State Highway shortly after.

Reports later revealed that the involved car was driving westbound at 60 to 70 mph in the far right lane. Suddenly, the driver drifted towards the middle lane and collided with a highway support pillar.

Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced both occupants dead on scene. They were later identified as Salvador Alvarez, and Wayne Stedman.

The inquiry will keep Golden State Avenue blocked between Q and 24th streets for several hours.

The collision’s cause is still being investigated.
