It seems as though Salt's Cure has finally outgrown its tiny 34-seat location. L.A. Weekly has learned that the restaurant chef/owners Chris Phelps and Zak Walters opened in 2010 is set to move and expand into the space at 1155 N. Highland Ave. currently occupied by Ammo. Ammo will be moving to a smaller spot at 6909 Melrose Avenue, and will shift focus to its growing takeout and delivery business. 

Salt's Cure, known for its dedication to locally raised produce and its commitment to in-house butchery, has long been swamped during its weekend brunch service. Two years ago the restaurant switched to an all-day affair, open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The new location will continue with this formula, as well as more than double the seating capacity. There will also be a patio, full bar and much larger kitchen. 

“When we first envisioned Salt’s Cure, the goal was to have a large space with outdoor seating and a cocktail program to go along with what we were trying to say with our food,” Phelps says. “We are so excited now to have reached a point where we can share this vision with our friends.”

The wine program has always been one of the more interesting in the city, and Matt Ahern of Next Generation Wine Co. will continue to curate the list, featuring small-producer, organic and biodynamic wines. That will be joined by a bar program similar in scope, with a focus on small-batch producers. 

The new location of Salt's Cure should be open by the fall. The owners haven't yet disclosed when the West Hollywood location will close or how much of a lag time there might be between iterations.
