You wouldn't know it by listening to the actual airwaves, but we've entered an era of the renaissance of the dramatic serial. These vintage tall tales play out not over your AM dial but in front of a live audience; the best known is probably the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo, but the gang at Captured Aural Phantasy has crafted something uniquely wonderful as well, combining live readings of stories from Golden and Silver Age comics with music, live sound effects and projected art. They land at Nerdist Industries' base of ops again this week to perform “Comic Book Summer Camp,” an event to recall youthful adventure, the smell of pine needles and kindling and maybe the sting of one or two mosquito bites, plus “tales of summer vacation, summer fun and summer love.” Be sure to get there on time to enjoy surf-rock tuneage by the Noble Gasses before the program begins.
