After converting from Hollywood hot spot to neighborhood gastropub, Les Deux closed its doors for good in March. A new restaurant, Sadie, is taking over and will open Jan. 24, says publicist Lawrence Moore. The Les Deux chef and beverage director are both back for this new incarnation. David Schmit, formerly of Hotel Bel Air and the Buffalo Club, will command the kitchen. Giovanni Martinez, once a cocktail consultant at Fig and Olive and the Buffalo Club, will serve “handcrafted cocktails” at the “parlour bar” and “lounge bar.” The menus should be finalized within the next few days, according to Moore.

But don't expect a Les Deux part-deux (or would it be trois?). The Dolce Group, known for its trendy nightlife-oriented restaurants and clubs, is not attempting another reboot. The new owners wish to be known as simply “the Simon family,” says Moore. The family has owned the property for several decades. Now, they want to create an “upscale eatery and lounge with mixology rather than a nightclub.”
