Miami-based singer/songwriter Sabrina Claudio plays two nights at the Wiltern this week in support of her forthcoming new album, so we chatted…

L.A. WEEKLY: “Holding the Gun” is the first single from the forthcoming followup to your debut album — how do you think your sound and grown/evolved in the year since the first album came out?

SABRINA CLAUDIO: Along with growing as a writer and a woman every day, for this album I was way more open minded than I normally am. I’m an extremely introverted and isolated writer, but I was starting to feel exhausted and as if my writing was becoming redundant. As much as it was a silly fear of mine, I began opening myself up to other writers and it was the best decision I could’ve made for my art.

What’s the concept for the “Holding the Gun” video?

The visual for “Holding The Gun” is a love story. It’s about a ride or die and unapologetic type of love and a kind of loyalty that only comes once in a lifetime.

What can we expect from the set in L.A.?

Live music, bomb outfits and great energy.

When this tour is over, what’s next?

After the tour, it’s back to writing. I’m usually most inspired when I finish performing and traveling.
