At a schmoozy, boozy event in London, S.Pellegrino announced its list of the 50 Best Restaurants in the world today. Seven U.S. restaurants made the cut. Two are from California. None are from Los Angles.

This is the 12th year S. Pellegrino and Restaurant magazine have been putting out the list. This year, Noma, Rene Redzepi's modernist Copenhagen restaurant, was named No. 1. It isn't the first time Noma held the top spot, though last year El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, got that honor. This year El Celler de Can Roca dropped to second place.

So where in the United States can you go for one of the world's supposed 50 best restaurant experiences? The American spots that made the list are as follows:

Coi in San Francisco, at No. 49 (this is its first time on the list); the French Laundry in Yountville at No. 44; Daniel in NYC at No. 40; Per Se in NYC at No. 30; Alinea in Chicago at No. 9; and Eleven Madison Park in NYC at No. 4. 

The United States and Spain had the most restaurants, each with seven. All together there were 29 restaurants from Europe, seven from Asia, six from South America, one from Australia and one from South Africa.
